On the issue of the draft law of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation No. 63 "On the approval of standards for maximum permissible impact on the unique ecological system of Lake Baikal...

Dear colleagues,

On the Federal portal of draft laws regulations, there is a draft law "On the changes in Annex 1 and Annex 2 to the law of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation of 5 March 2010 No. 63 "On the approval of standards for maximum permissible impact on the unique ecological system of Lake Baikal and the list of hazardous substances, including substances classified as priority hazardous, highly hazardous, hazardous and moderately hazardous to a unique lake ecological system Baikal". Limnological Institute SB RAS and leading limnologists cannot endorse the view of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation that suggests a manyfold increase in the permissible volume and concentration of substances emitted with waste waters into Lake Baikal. Enclosed you will find the letters sent to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation.
