Increasing the number of atmospheric monitoring stations

Within the state assignment of LIN SB RAS “Study of the role of atmospheric precipitation on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems of the Lake Baikal basin, identification of sources of atmospheric pollution” (0279-2021-0014) (led by Khodzher T.V.), inside the Visit Center “Baikal zapovedny” Visit Centre (51.563 N, 105.13 E), a new atmospheric monitoring station was opened in the settlement of Tankhoy together with the staff of Baikal State Natural Biosphere Reserve on October 12, 2023 to investigate the processes of pollutants transfer from industrial complexes of the Baikal region to the background areas of the south-eastern coast of Lake Baikal. At the station, measurements of sulphur dioxide concentration and mass concentration of particles РМ10, РМ2.5 are continuously carried out, and atmospheric aerosol and precipitation are sampled for chemical analysis. The measurement data are transmitted to the server of LIN SB RAS, which allows assessing the state of the atmosphere in real time. In the future, the number of observation parameters at the station will be expanded to include new chemical and meteorological data.
