Winners of the All-Russian contest "Big Break" visited LIN SB RAS
On September 15, 2022, within the cultural and educational program "Dream Journeys", almost 120 schoolchildren from all over the country - winners of the All-Russian contest "Big Break" visited LIN SB RAS. Schoolchildren went on a trip by a special train "St. Petersburg - Vladivostok", which arrived after 8 days in the Baikal region. The first day was devoted to the Circum-Baikal Railway. From the morning of the next day schoolchildren were waiting for an active popular scientific program including a visit to the SIPPB SB RAS greenhouse, the Museum of Mineralogy of INRTU, and LIN SB RAS. Our young guests saw a film about the international research expedition "Worlds on Baikal". The work of the Interactive Monitoring Center was shown where the data of automatic devices installed at several sites of the Baikal natural area and Lake Baikal are collected and transmitted online. Schoolchildren were introduced to the peculiarities of research practice using the light and electron microscopes of the "Ultra Microanalysis" Core Facilities Centre as well as interesting facts about the cultivation of diatomic algae and bacteria.
