Сollaborative works of LIN SB RAS and INREC SB RAS

Within the framework of the development of integrative programs for studying the changes of the natural environment of Transbaikalia, a number of collaborative expeditionary works of LIN SB RAS (directed by M. Makarov, R. Granatovsky, O. Stepanova) were carried out together with INREC SB RAS (directed by G. Tsybekmitova, N. Tashlykova, E. Matyuguina, V. Kazantsev) and INRTU (directed by D. Chensky, N. Gubin). From 19 July to 05 August 2022, an experimental installation of a multi-parameter zond JFE Rinko AAQ177 was set up on the base of the scientific station of INREC SB RAS on Lake Arakhlei. The staff of LIN SB RAS together with the colleagues of INREC SB RAS organized a flow chart and uninterrupted operation of the monitoring station within 24 hours. The zond measured hydrophysical, hydro-optical, and hydrochemical parameters every 5 seconds. The measured parameters were transmitted to the server of LIN SB RAS via digital channels of the cellular network. The measured data were presented on the web page as graphs grouped into three categories: hydrochemistry (dissolved oxygen, temperature, ORP, pH), hydrobiology (dissolved oxygen, temperature, chlorophyll-a, turbidity) and hydrophysics (mineralization, temperature, PAR, electrical conductivity). On the web page, for detailed analysis you can select the period you are interested in or a combination of parameters.

The primary analysis of the obtained data showed the daily variations in the value of dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll-a, hydrogen index and redox potential. The cases of rapid changes in water temperature under the influence of south-southeastern wind driving the warm surface water to the northwestern shore were recorded.

Besides, together with the staff of the Laboratory of Aquatic Ecosystems of INREC SB RAS, the inter-calibration of the equipment of LIN SB RAS and new hydrophysical equipment of INREC SB RAS was carried out: “submersible spectrofluorometer PhycoProb (bbe Moldaenke GmbH, Germany)”, “multi-channel monitoring zond (YSI Inc., the USA)” and EXO2.

Hydrochemical studies were conducted on six largest lakes of the Ivano-Arakhleysky complex such as Arakhlei, Shakshinskoye, Irgen, Ivan, Tasei, Bolshoi Undugun and other shallow water bodies. In total, 48 samples were collected. In the course of the expedition chemical parameters of water were determined (temperature, pH, Eh, TDS, turbidity, oxygen content). On the base of LIN SB RAS, it is planned to study the elemental composition by ICP-MS method and determine the stable isotopes of oxygen (δ18O) and hydrogen (δD) in the studied samples.

The staff of the Department of Radioelectronics and Telecommunication Systems of INRTU performed the seismoacoustic research of the sedimentary cover of the lakes Ivan, Arakhlei and Shaksha. They used a Knudsen 3260 chirp profiler, which allows studying the structures of the lake sedimentary covers with a resolution of up to 10 cm vertically. The total length of the passed profiles was 66 km.
